First, housekeeping:
It’s coming up fast, but there are still spots available in my June 24-28 writing workshop at Madeline Island School of the Arts. It’s an out-of-the-way destination for many of us, but if you can wangle a way to Madeline Island, I can promise you a week of inspired writing and reading and general rejuvenation, plus birdsong, good long walks, and a bottomless jar of chocolate chip cookies in our studio. Lots of info right here.
There’s just one spot left in my August 25-30 workshop at Zapata Ranch, the last one I’ll ever do at this spectacular location. (The Nature Conservancy, owner of the land, is converting it to other uses.) Join us for a week of writing and horseback riding in the high desert prairie — and the adjacent Great Sand Dunes National Park, where we’ll of course go stargaze one night and where, if you’re lucky, one of us may snap a high-drama windblown candid of you without your knowing and send it to you on some random Monday when you’re back at your desk, like a holy visitation from your best self. Info here.
And though 2025 feels very far away, this is exactly the right time to sign up for my first-ever workshop in Europe, April 12-19 at Clos Mirabel, an 18th-century manor house in Jurançon, France. Literal stuff of dreams. I can hardly believe it’s happening. Information over here — and please email me (info (at) mollywizenberg (dot) com) if you have any questions; I know an international experience like this one comes with additional planning and considerations.
And now:
We got a new kitchen
I am aware that this heading makes it sound like… we got a new kitchen. Just last week at a playground I overheard two mothers talking about how serendipitous it was that they’re both currently doing home remodels, ha ha, isn’t it great that we can swap stories and tips — and that is not what I mean. We still have the 1958-meets-2015 Frankenkitchen that I’ve described to you before. We will likely never renovate, because home renovation, though it seems bafflingly common if you hang out at the right playgrounds, is fiendishly expensive and not in our budget. But where we used to have a cooktop-in-a-box with two and a half functioning burners, we now have an entire functioning range!
